Artist Statement
I am a digital artist whose work focuses on highlighting and uplifting Black women and spirituality. My primary art mediums are digital art, photo collage/manipulation, and illustration.
I spent most of my teenage years creating art, but I took a long break once I started working as a professional graphic designer in the marketing industry. After so many years of creating for other people, I started to feel separated from my true self.
What called me back to art was the need to create for myself again. I felt like my soul craved it. I ended up falling in love with art all over again, and through this process, I fell in love with myself again. I felt like I found my soul’s purpose.
As an artist, art is very healing for me, and it has been so helpful during my spiritual journey and my journey of self-discovery. My creativity is a part of my ancestral healing work. I create to heal myself, my foremothers, and my ancestral lineage.
When people view my art, I want them to feel empowered and uplifted. I want them to realize that there’s more to this earth than what can be seen with our two eyes. I want them to look deeper, not only within the art, but also to look deeper within themselves.
