The process of creating the blueprint and the space in between.
Is it a face? Is it a body? Is it a mask? Maybe it's all of the above or none of these things at all.
The blueprint: the beginning stages of something great. Not yet formed, but still holds great impact.
This piece reminds me of the Akan proverb: "Owo Foro Adobe" which translates to "The snake climbs the raffia tree."
The title is inspired by a card from the Adinkra Ancestral Guidance deck created by Simone Bresi-Ando (R.I.P). The guidebook states: "There is no path, you have to create one, and you can do it! Create the blueprint. Trailblazers are legends, and you will build so those who come after can reach higher than you imagined. Make your ancestors proud."
Those words spoke to me, and I have carried them with me. Sometimes there is no path ahead of you. Sometimes you have to trailblaze and be the one to create your own path.
This abstract artwork reminds me of the process of creating and building the blueprint and the path. Sometimes, the in-between phase and the creation process are abstract. The lines aren't straight, and sometimes you don't know what's in front of you.
But, still, you proceed. And you don't give up because you know you're building something great and long-lasting.
Create your path.
